    Compton & Shawford Pre-School

    Compton & Shawford Pre-school is located in Compton, just outside Winchester.

    Our aim is to enhance the development and education of children under statutory School age in a parent-involving, equal opportunities, community-based group.

    The pre-school is rated Outstanding by Ofsted (2017).

    At pre-school, we support children to develop their independence in a child-centred environment, allowing freedom to explore and deepen their interest and understanding. Being a small setting allows us to truly ‘get to know‘ our children and their families, which creates secure relationships between the children and pre-school staff. We are able to adapt provision to meet the changing needs of our children on a daily basis.

    As a registered charity, Compton & Shawford Pre-school is non-profit making which allows all resources to go back into pre-school and benefit the children.

    The pre-school has been central to the local community for over 40 years, and has well-established links which allows us to offer a wide variety of activities to all children including trips and excursions.


    We offer your child:

    A child centred curriculum based on your child’s own interests, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

     A secure and stimulating environment with high adult to child ratios, including a personal key carer.

     Fun and friendship with children and other adults, including opportunities for you to be directly involved if you wish.

    We accept children from aged 2.5 years.

    We accept 15 and 30 hours funding, as well as 2 year old funding. 

    We offer sessions Monday to Friday during term-time via a minimum number of hours per week, which can be divided across days. There is always an option for additional hours, subject to availability.  

    We support onward transition to all schools, state or independent.
