Deck the Hall (ways!) with ALL the Glitz

It’s just around the corner, begins with a C and creates all kinds of magic …

Dressing your whole home for Christmas has fast become a pastime for many, and with so many fabulous brands and decor around, it can be so easy to get instant results with just a few quick finishing touches.

I’ve been taking a look at a few of the season’s most style-genic trends (definitely not a real word). Here’s the lowdown on some of my faves, along with a few local companies to check out, because I truly believe in supporting local indies where we can!

    Merry & Bright

Hands up anyone who loves a colour statement? Multicoloured rainbow trees are big news this season. Continuing the fantastical rainbow and unicorn trend of the summer, the idea for this look is to literally create a rainbow on your tree by colour blocking baubles in layers. Not for the faint hearted (or the grey addicts), but if you’re after a LOT of fun and something that stands out from the crowd, this look most definitely packs a punch.

Fanatical about all things bright and beautiful? Check out Andover based interiors shop La Di Da for this amazing set of multicoloured baubles by Pickering’s Gin … Gin AND baubles? What’s not to love?!

    Modern Elegance

Blush pink is still very much the colour du jour, and if you’re after a subtle, feminine take on festivities, this could be your kind of decor trend.  Pair blush pink, white and cream together with hints of shimmering gold for an elegant, yet modern take on Christmas.

A little too feminine for your liking? Try adding  hits of slate grey to the proceedings to balance out the look and create a more minimalistic graphic style. Personalised acrylic baubles like these by Hampshire based Sophia Victoria Joy, make for a beautifully sophisticated finishing touch to any festive space.

    Happy Craft-mas!

There has been a huge shift recently in the way in which we reuse materials and reduce our use of plastic. This readdressing of priorities has happily led to a trend that embraces artisan techniques. Hand crafted decor items, and in particular those produced from natural products such as wool and wood have been gaining popularity year on year. This resurgence in ethically sourced and sustainable products will, I think, simply keep building a social focus for many of us for years to come.

If you love a woollen Pom Pom or two, check out local company Weave & Pom, for some cute handmade pompom wreaths:

This is just an overview of the many gorgeous looks out there this Christmas, and there’s certainly something for everyone, from the nostalgic loving traditionalists to the wild hearted fantasists.

    Happy Styling!
