    Mother’s Day Out!

    Mother's Day Out!

Its hard to miss the fact that it will be Mother’s Day soon, and for those of you who are lucky enough to have your Mum, or who are now a Mum yourself – this is a day to celebrate their (or your!) fabulousness! I’ve pulled together some of the most special ways to spend the day within Winchester and the surrounding area. If you’re a Mum to small children, at this point I highly recommend forwarding this article to whoever might be responsible for helping your little ones remember that it’s Mother’s Day!

    Chocolate making

The amazing Chocolate Craft factory in Alresford is running two Mother’s Day chocolate making workshops on Saturday 30th March. You can spend 2.5 hours learning how to make a range of delicious chocolate treats and end the experience with a box of your very own beautiful handcrafted chocs to take home! If you love fun and interactive days out and fancy learning a new skill then this could be a great way to spend some quality time with your Mum.

    Afternoon tea in style

The stunning Lainston House Hotel is offering a delicious Mother’s Day afternoon tea served in their original 17th Century Barn. Enjoy tempting delights such as smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, plump homemade scones with Lainston’s own jam and clotted cream, and an amazing variety of luxurious tarts, eclairs and all the dreamy pastry delights you could wish for!

There are a variety of teas to chose from, or you can opt to splash out on a glass of English sparkling wine. They have musical entertainment throughout the afternoon and all Mums will receive a special small gift too!

An afternoon with bubbly and Bridget!

Everyman Cinema in Winchester is celebrating Everymum with their special Mother’s Day afternoon screening of everyone’s favourite singleton, Bridget Jones. Even better – they are throwing in a complimentary glass of prosecco with every ticket, so why not put your feet up and enjoy a couple of hours of laughter, fizz and Mr Darcy (swoon!) with your Mum!

    Relax and unwind

I couldn’t write about Mother’s Day without suggesting some amazing spa and relaxation options around Winchester. If there’s ever a person who deserves to be pampered it’s a busy Mum, so take this opportunity to relax! My number one recommendation for a full blown spa day has to be the beautiful Senspa at Carey’s Manor in the New Forest, which has absolutely everything you could dream of – a hydrotherapy pool, herbal saunas, a crystal steam room, a mud room – I could go on and on! If you want to splash out then this is the place to go!

If you’re looking for something a little closer to home or a relaxing treatment without a full day away then you should definitely check out the Sarah Barrett salon on Jewry Street. From outside it looks like a beautiful hairdressers but upstairs they have a gorgeous chill out room with scented candles, relaxation music, cosy seating and herbal teas; and of course some mind blowing spa treatments! Everything from facials, to aromatherapy massages and full body emersion rituals, all using sustainable organic products from Ila which are not only friendly to the environment and your skin but smell like heaven! It’s a peaceful oasis in our busy city and absolutely worth a visit.

Ladies night out with Dolly Parton!

What amazing timing – 9 to 5 The Musical, featuring a live West End band and the fabulous songs of Dolly Parton is bringing it’s UK tour for one night only to the Theatre Royal Winchester on Mother’s Day! The show tells the story of three wonderful ladies who are sick and tired of their sexist boss and make a crazy plan to kidnap him and turn the tables!

It’s an evening of big laughs, some huge dance numbers and all the Dolly songs that we know and love. The show is set in the 80s (cue some amazing outfits and hairdos!) but contains messages which are still so relevant to us today as the battle for equal pay and opportunities in the workplace is being recognised more than ever. So for an amazing night out with your Mum, and some serious girl power, grab some tickets and you’ll soon be dancing in the aisles!

    Have a fantastic day!
