SulkyDoll's Top Picks for Valentine's
When did this ridiculous myth get started that Valentine’s Day is a celebration reserved exclusively for relationships or those looking to couple up?
What about celebrating your love for yourself?
HER asked local stylist-to-the-stars Donna McCulloch aka SulkyDoll, for her top picks to shower you with all the love you deserve this February 14th.
Or any damn-day of the year for that matter…
One of my favourite things to do after a long hot bath is to apply a luxurious body oil.
Lots of my girlfriends don’t use oils, preferring a moisturiser, but once I convert them to the majesty of oils, they never look back.
This award-winning oil from Balance Me leaves my skin feeling both supple and restored. It is deeply nourishing, suitable for all skin types and is very reasonably priced at £24.50. Our skin is our biggest organ, we should show it some love ❤️
The Food of Love
The magical properties of dark chocolate are well documented and even if you aren’t vegan, this chocolate is hard to beat on taste. Plus the packaging is super cute.
The Gin to your Tonic
I think most of us can admit that our alcohol consumption has increased somewhat since last March.
Given the current situation, it is hard to deny oneself a G&T after a tough day homeschooling & I have found an excellent compromise…enter, Clean Gin with all the taste but significantly less of the alcohol. This hits the spot every time.
One of the habits I’ve adopted during lockdown is to write a gratitude journal & it’s been a lifesaver. I’m on my third one now.
To make it extra special I like to choose a suitably beautiful notebook and this one from Velvet London is an absolute beauty.
The Gift of Self Care
A gift that keeps on giving…look no further than a subscription.
One of my go-to apps is the mindfulness app; Bloom, with tools to help you sleep & reduce stress, it’s an absolute gem of a gift and one that can be enjoyed 365 days of the year.
Fall in Love with your Skin
With salons and beauty clinics all closed for the foreseeable, facials are one of the indulgences that I really miss.
Seduce your Senses
I am a sucker for a scented candle, I find them hypnotic and at the moment, we should not be saving anything for best, so light those beautiful candles!
This one from my favourite Witch, Semra aka Mama Moon, is scented with oud & rose – it even smells like love.
Whilst we are spending so much time indoors we may as well style it up, right?
