    What's On This Week

Happy New Year, lovely ladies of Winchester!

January, quite possibly one of the toughest months in the calendar, no? Whether you’re taking it dry, wet, or slightly damp, it can seem as if not much is happening around these parts BUT we have a few things that may just about help you through this bleak and bleary month.

    Winchester Veganfest

Whether you’re a hardy vegan, slightly vegan-curious or giving Veganuary a good ole go then Winchester Veganfest is the place for you THIS Sunday. From 10.30am-3.30pm, at Winchester Guildhall, you’ll find the best in street food, local vegan companies and products, plus some top speakers.

Marking the 50th birthday of the mighty Dave Grohl, Grohlercoaster (Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters tribute) and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers Experience will be ready to rock you out of your January blues this Saturday at the Railway Inn from 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 in advance and £8 on the door.

    Barnstormers Comedy Night

If you could do with a good laugh then head to the Winchester Discovery Centre this Friday night for Barnstormers Comedy Night. This month will see comedians Stuart Goldsmith, Markus Birdman, and Mark Maier take to the stage – overseen by the ‘irrepressible Kevin Precious’.

If you’re  newly engaged post Christmas/new year or you’re in the midst of some serious wedding planning (huge congratulations, by the way), the stunning Barn at Avington are having an open day this Sunday from 11.30am-3pm. Meet suppliers, see the venue in all its wedding-inspo-glory, and ask your questions to the amazing team.

    The Writing School

Fancy putting pen to paper and writing the story of your life? Or someone else’s? The Writing School starts its 10-week course today in the elements of life writing at Winchester Discovery Centre – every Thursday until 28th March. Maybe a New Year’s resolution to commit to?

Hopefully you’ll find something in that lot to help take the edge of the mid-Jan-blues. I think a bit of Grohlercoaster might just do it for me!
