    Winchester’s Best Pub Garden

    Winchester's Best Pub Garden

For me, it has to be The Willow Tree. Keeping up with the rest of our culture-drenched city, this well kept gem has history; In the 1800’s it started off as a working mill and was eventually turned into a pub in the 1920’s.

With a unique location, the River Itchen runs underneath the pub before branching out in opposite directions, creating a special pub-garden island, with the river lapping either side. The garden itself, apart from being surrounded by a gushing, flowing river is an attractive and calm oasis for punters and ducks alike! It certainly feels remote enough to easily forget you are actually still in Winchester.

Let’s not forget the delicious food offering to match. From authentic turkish kebabs, tacos al pastore to pizzas from their outdoor wood fired oven, there is definitely something for everyone. What could be better than a fresh, stone-baked pizza when a balmy summer afternoon turns into evening, accompanied by a glass of something special from the superb selection of natural wines from around the world?

Throughout summer, the pub hosts open mic events on a Thursday. With an eclectic mix of ‘artist’, you may just be listening to the next big thing. Other days, you could find yourself caught up in a low key and fun wedding reception.

if you haven’t been yet, hurry. Before the secret (and summer sun) is out!
